On the road again!

Our little family of two people and two dogs will be traveling all over the country for the next year and so I have decided to document it. Since it seems I can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, let alone what I did last year, I figure it will be nice to have something to look back on in the future when I have sufficiently forgotten all of the details.

Our lovely travels will begin with being crammed in our leased Rav4 with two dogs, all our clothes, blankets, pillows, dog toys, dog beds, dog food, treats, and anything else we can think of that we will need as we drive from Charleston, WV to San Francisco, CA! However, AAA trip tik is an amazing thing and will make the trip much more enjoyable. We learned this from our first drive across the country coming to the east (minus one dog). Our route was mapped out perfectly, along with books that told us everything we could possibly want to know about hotels to stay in (including how much pet fees would be and whether or not they served breakfast!). I have to admit I am not looking forward to having two panting dogs slobbering on my shoulder for the 37 hour trip, however, we do have an attachable fan to hook up in the back that will hopefully keep them at bay...at least for a little while. If that doesn't work, there's always Benadryl!

This trip I am actually going to try and make a contribution to the driving part of the trip. I can't believe it was over three years ago that Derek, Gracie, and I traveled from Orange County, CA to Morgantown, WV....and no I didn't drive for even one mile! Derek was a trooper. Although I did make a valiant effort to at least stay awake....I think I only fell asleep twice. For this trip we have also increased our space capacity by purchasing one of those huge containers that attaches to the top of the car that can hold bunches of our junk. All this fun starts not too far off.... August 19, 2009! Until then I'll be hanging out with the dogs as a stay at home wife and preparing for our move.....
